The Ferguson-Florissant School District Girls on Track team at Ferguson Middle School participated in the Girls on the Run 5K run. Each of the student runners was partnered with an adult buddy, who ran the race with them. PRESS RELEASE

Ferguson-Florissant School District's Central Elementary School also has a Girls on the Run Track Team whose member trained for 10 weeks and participated in the 5K run as well as spearheaded a school-wide gum drive for children with cancer. PRESS RELEASE

Ayesha Wahidi
Ferguson-Florissant School District student Ayesha Wahidi, a senior at McCluer North High School, has received the Gates Millennium Scholarship. The Gates Millennium Scholars Program selects 1,000 talented students each year to receive a good-through-graduation scholarship to use at any college or university of their choice.  Recipients also receive academic support throughout their college career, plus personal and professional development opportunities through the Gates leadership program. Valden Campbell
Ferguson-Florissant School District student Valden Campbell, a junior at McCluer High School, received the University of Missouri-St. Louis Distinguished Achievement Award for Excellence in World Languages.  Campbell, whose achievement was for his study of the Spanish language, is the only award recipient from a North County School. The City of Hazelwood’s Green Committee partnered with 2014 Miss Hazelwood Briana Barr in organizing a joint Litter Pick-Up event involving Hazelwood West High School students.Hazelwood West High School students who volunteer for these litter pick-up events will be able to earn community service hours required for graduation. Hazelwood School District congratulates 10 Hazelwood North Middle School students who were selected to attend the Eureka! STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) camp this summer. Eureka! is an intensive, five-year program that provides hands-on achievement opportunities in STEM, as well as college and career preparation to girls in the St. Louis metropolitan area. Mashroor Rashid
Hazelwood School District's Hazelwood West High Junior, Mashroor Rashid, is one of 20 students nationwide who was selected for the FIRST Robotics Competition Dean’s List during a ceremony at the Edward Jones Dome in downtown St. Louis. As a Dean’s List winner, Rashid will serve as an ambassador for FIRST Robotics and work with the organization and other Dean’s List winners to boost interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) and specifically, robotics. Pattonville School District's Pattonville High School recently earned national certification for its Project Lead The Way (PLTW) biomedical sciences program. PLTW is a national nonprofit organization that provides STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education programs. Pattonville School District congratulates Misael Barcenas-Toledo and Gayathri Srinivasan, Pattonville High School juniors who were selected to work in University of Missouri–St. Louis (UMSL) laboratories this summer, conducting research with some of St. Louis' top scientists. They are among 67 youth from as far away as Greece to be chosen to participate in this highly selective program. PRESS RELEASE
Pattonville High School was named among the top high schools in Missouri and the nation on U.S. News and World Report's 2015 Best High Schools ranking. Trinity Catholic High School junior engineering team, The Flying Penguins, won the Division I Championship at the Boeing Engineering Challenge. The team of Sam Araujo,, Matt Quick, Ben Sanfilippo, and Michael Schaller constructed a glider that was judged by Boeing as having the highest quality of flight, the maximum time aloft and the longest distance of flight before touchdown at 163 feet, six inches.
Trinity Catholic High School won an annual video contest sponsored by the Annual Catholic Appeal and will receive $5,000.

Ferguson-Florissant School District has formed a partnership with a Missouri behavioral health organization to provide full-time therapists in all schools beginning fall 2015. Therapists will be available to address ongoing mental health needs and provide individual and group counseling to students. Case management and referrals to other services may be offered as needed. Marygrove’s 14-bed overnight emergency shelter program has expanded to a 20-bed, multi-faceted Crisis Services program with enhanced support services.   This summer it will move into the newly renovated, 22,000 square foot Martha E. Jones Center on campus.   The newly expanded Crisis Services will provide short term emergency shelter, food, clothing, medical care, psychiatric assessments and other support services for children, teens and families, ages birth through 20 years.
MoDOT will be resurfacing the I-270 bridges over New Florissant Road and New Halls Ferry Road during the month of July 2015. University of Missouri St. Louis Chancellor Tom George has announced the North County Scholarship Program which promises north St. Louis students will have a better chance to achieve their goals of earning a college degree.
