The City of Ferguson Couch to 5K (C25K) program begins March 16 and goes for six weeks. This program is designed to train people who are new or returning to running to cross the finish line of the Ferguson Twilight Run. People of all ages and fitness levels are invited to participate, and all you need are a pair of running shoes and the determination to get off the couch. The City of Bellefontaine Neighbors has announced that Chief of Police Robert S. Pruett has submitted his letter of retirement. Chief Pruett begain his law enforcement career 50 years ago with the St. Louis Police Department in 1964 and has served at the Chief of Police in Bellefontaine Neighbors since 2001. Ferguson Florissant School District students Ricky Smith and Dystinee Nichols, juniors at the Mark Twain Student Support Center, have been accepted to participate in the Roy Clay Sr. Web Development and Entrepreneurship Workshop, a six-week development series sponsored by Hands Up United which provides computer programming and web development training to empower participants to become entrepreneurs and help them launch their tech careers by using what they learn to assist small businesses and movements in the Ferguson area establish a digital presence.

Ferguson Florissant School District congratulates sixth grader Estephanie Estrada from Holman Elementary School for winning the district's 2015 Spelling Bee Championship. Estrada competed against students in fourth through eighth grade and will compete in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Spelling Bee to be held in the spring. Students prepared for the districtwide Bee by participating in building and grade level competitions.

The City of Florissant celebrated the oral tradition of reciting poetry in February by hosting the St. Louis County Missouri Regional Championships of Poetry Out Loud, a national poetry recitation contest supported in all 50 states by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation. Ritenour High School students enrolled in radio, TV news, video production and print journalism courses are getting real-life journalism experiences. On Feb. 25, the KRHS Media Team covered the second segment of the Student Summit on Race. Hosted at Ritenour High School, approximately 160 student leaders from 20 area high schools offered solutions to racial divides in their schools and communities.
Saint Louis Crisis Nursery was recently awarded a $15,000 grant from The Saigh Foundation to support its Stopping Overwhelming Stress (SOS) for Kids program, which provides care for children whose families are enduring extreme difficulties which may put their children at imminent risk for neglect and abuse. The City of Florissant welcomes Ironworkers Local 396 and Wallis Oil who are beginning steel construction on an innovative Brite Worx Car Wash which is scheduled to open later this year in Florissant on Lindbergh Blvd. near the intersection of Lindbergh and Charbonier Street. The City of Jennings is accepting applications for the position of Code Enforcement Officer. The successful candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in municipal code enforcement or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and experience. The Code Enforcement Officer will be mainly responsible for enforcing the City of Jennings public nuisance and property maintenance codes and ordinances under the supervision of the Deputy Building Commissioner.
