St. Louis County - North County
Incorporated coordinated the efforts of the
cities of Berkeley, Dellwood, Hazelwood, and
St. John to highlight the benefits of doing
business and the opportunities available in
North County at the International Council
of Shopping Centers (ICSC) Retail Deal Making
convention. Representatives from participating
cities took the opportunity to talk with retailers,
site selectors, and commercial developers
from all over the country about the possibility
for expansion in our area.
|
|
Each municipality showcased their recent
successes, such as, St. John's Crossing in
the City of St. John, the airport redevelopment
area in the City of Berkeley, façade renovations
at Springwood Plaza, the grand opening of
O'Reilly's Auto Parts in the City of Dellwood,
and St. Louis Mills at Park 370 in the City
of Hazelwood.

"We were pleased to work with municipal members
again this year to showcase our area as a profitable
and vibrant area for new businesses to locate.
This is the fourth year we have brought our
communities together in this joint effort. Each
year more retail site selectors visit our booth
to learn about the exciting growth occurring
in North St. Louis County,"
~ Rebecca Zoll NCI Executive Director
|
| "Our participation in the ICSC
convention allows us to highlight the commercial
potential of Chambers Road and West Florissant
Avenue, the Crossroads of North St. Louis County
to national businesses and commercial developers,"
said Dellwood's Mayor Jack Agnew, who attended
the convention, along with Tom Zak, city manager.

John Hess & Terry Milam
showcase city benefits

The convention allows municipal
leaders to build a network with site selectors.
"The contacts I made would not have been possible
had I not attended the show. I will be following
up with them and it will be beneficial to the
city," said Terry Milam, city manager and chief
of police for St. John. Councilman Jim Hess
assisted Milam in showcasing the city's opportunities.
|
| North County leaders had the opportunity
to talk with restaurant, hair salon, mall retailers
and big-box representatives. "The ICSC Chicago
Deal Making is an excellent opportunity to showcase
the City of Hazelwood and the development and
retail opportunities available," said Daniel
Mears, assistant city manager, City of Hazelwood.
"By working with other communities from North
St. Louis County, a significant impression is
made directly to the people who make the deals
happen that St. Louis is a responsive place
for them to look for new opportunities." Joseph
King, city manager of the City of Berkeley,
expressed why the City of Berkeley participated
by stating, "No other convention is more focused
on vision and progress as the ICSC." |
