As we welcome, North County
Incorporated's (NCI) new president Dr. Mark
Tranel, Director of Public Policy Research
Center and the New Year, I wanted to share
some of our 2006 successes with you and talk
about what we will be working on during 2007.
As our North County communities
saw tremendous investment this past year,
North County Inc. also had an active year
as we provided marketing materials on economic
investment, housing growth, transportation
improvements, development opportunities, schools,
health providers and more to businesses, commercial
and residential investors, homebuyers and
others seeking data on our great communities.
Early in the year, we hosted a developer's
reception to encourage growth and the development
of relationships between municipal leaders
and local commercial investors. We offered
free learning opportunities on entrepreneurial
business development and creating the right
retail mix to local economic development,
municipal and county officials.
We, along with area Chambers
of Commerce supported important legislation
that would increase job growth, fund schools
more effectively, help businesses expansion
and retention efforts, as well as advocating
for other initiatives that help create a sustainable
community. Jointly, with the Chambers we developed
a legislative agenda that looked out for the
best interests of the North County area and
hosted a legislative meeting with our State
elected officials.
NCI proudly attended celebrations
for openings of projects that we have been
active with for years, such as the groundbreaking
of NorthPark, the opening of the completely
rebuilt Route 367. These projects, while taking
years in the planning process will have a
huge positive impact on our area and workforce.
NCI connected hundreds of people
and companies with the resources throughout
our community, which allowed for problem-solving,
partnerships, promotion of a better quality
of life, inclusion, and growth. In 2006, we
formed an Inclusion Taskforce to examine how
we can serve our membership and communities'
even better in the future.
This year we will celebrate
30 years of service to the community. NCI
will continue to follow our strategic plan,
which calls for increased promotion and marketing
of services within our area and the development
of a business retention program, as well as,
continued work with our service providers,
such as educators and hospitals to ensure
sustainability and excellence of performance.
North County Inc. connects people,
ideas, and resources to help keep North County
a great place to live, work, shop, worship
and learn. We are your North County Connection.
Let us know how we can be of service to your
business or organization this year and become
a part of the powerful voice speaking on behalf
