Business and Chambers of Commerce
North County is home to many of St. Louis' largest corporations and employers, including, Lambert St. Louis International Airport, which employs more than 11, 000 people. Other major employers are: American Airlines, Boeing, Emerson, Ford, GKN, IBM, Tyco Healthcare / Mallinckrodt, Inc. and United Parcel Service. North County is a business powerhouse in terms of its regional impact.

Small businesses and expanding home-based businesses thrive in this area as they experience an economic boom, providing residents with services, products and jobs close to home. Residents respond with faithful patronage of these businesses, allowing them to succeed. The community and municipal leaders support businesses of all sizes and try to assist them with the necessary tools they need to grow.
The area can boast that their Applebee's Restaurant in Florissant has the highest net sales of the 300 company-owned stores two years in a row; American Eagle at Jamestown Mall in 2000 ran double their projected sales numbers; 5 out of the top 25 automobile dealerships in the St. Louis area are located here; the Krispy Kreme donut shop in Ferguson has the 2nd highest sales volume in the country (2000);

Outback Steakhouse in Hazelwood is ranked 2nd in sales volume (2000) and the Hollywood Video store in Ferguson is consistently #1 in sales in the St. Louis market. Several active Chambers of Commerce support North County businesses. Helping businesses launch and grow, they increase job opportunities and contribute to the overall economic stability of the region.

Local Chambers sponsor job fairs, business after-hours exchanges, recognition dinners, monthly luncheons and other activities designed to increase member business opportunities. The annual North County Business Fair, held at Florissant Valley Community College, attracts hundreds of area residents, providing an outstanding showcase for area businesses.
The Florissant Valley Chamber of Commerce serves Black Jack, Florissant, Hazelwood and Spanish Lake. The North County Chamber serves Berkeley, Cool Valley, Dellwood, Ferguson, Jennings, Moline Acres. The Northwest Communities Chamber serves Breckenridge Hills, Bridgeton, Charlack, Earth City, Edmundson, Hazelwood, Overland, St. Ann, St. John, Vinita Park, Village of Sycamore Hills and Woodson Terrace. The Maryland Heights Chamber serves the Maryland Heights area, which encompasses Westport and Riverport.
