Black Jack Fire Protection District Chief Michael Gantner named North County Inc.’s Chairman of the Board of Directors for 2014

The Board of Directors for North County Incorporated (NCI), a regional development association, has elected Chief Michael Gantner as Chair for 2014. This is a one-year term, beginning January 1, 2014. Gantner succeeds Ron McMullen, President of Christian Hospital, who served as North County Incorporated’s Board of Directors Chairman in 2013. Gantner has been an active member of the NCI Board of Directors and the community.  His diverse experience and leadership skills will be an asset as the incoming Board Chair for North County Inc.

Gantner’s community involvement goes far beyond his professional role as Fire Chief for the Black Jack Fire Protection District. He has served on North County Incorporated’s Board of Directors since 2006 and on the Executive Board as a Director since 2007. He also serves on the Greater North County Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors.

The NCI Board of Directors also named several new board members for 2014. NCI’s incoming board members for 2014 are Dr. Tiffany Anderson, Jennings School District, Ms. Rosa Rue-Brown, Spanish Lake Comm. Assoc., Mr. Robert Cerame, Paul Cerame Auto Group, Captain Troy Doyle, St. Louis County Police, Ms. Rachel Giffhorn, The Bridge at Florissant, Mr. Jim Guyre, Valley Industries, Dr. Scott Spurgeon, Riverview Gardens School District, and Don Zykan, Meridian Waste.

Dr. Tiffany Anderson currently serves as Superintendent of the Jennings School District. Before joining the Jennings School District in 2012 she served as an administrator with St. Louis City Public Schools, Rockwood, and the Montgomery County Public Schools in Virginia. She has written a book called “Closing the Achievement Gap”, and is active in the community. She is a national presenter on education topics and is a lifetime member of the NAACP.

Ms. Rosa Rue-Brown has worked at Maritz for 28 years and is currently the Senior Manager of Operations for the Financial Services Research Group. She is very active civically and is serving her second term on the Spanish Lake Community Association. She also works closely with the Maritz Corporate Giving Council and sits on the Campus Y Board of Advisors.

Mr. Robert Cerame is President/GM of Paul Cerame Auto Group Inc. that he co-owns with his family. He started working for the family business 35+ years ago and has worked his way up the ladder to his current position. His civic involvement includes sitting on the Board of Directors for Marygrove and the Matthew Dickey Boys and Girls Club.

Captain Troy Doyle currently serves as the Commander of the North County Precinct for the St. Louis County Police Dept. He began his career with the St. Louis County Police Dept. in 1992 working out of the South County Precinct. He has spent time in a number of leadership positions with the department and is currently involved in numerous neighborhood watch and community relations programs in North County.

Ms. Rachel Giffhorn is the General Manager for The Bridge of Florissant. The Bridge is an assisted and independent living community in Florissant. Prior to the Bridge she oversaw the operations of several other senior living complexes. She has a tremendous passion for serving the North County community in a leadership capacity.

Mr. Jim Guyre is currently the Executive Director for Valley Industries, a non-profit sheltered workshop that provides dignified and meaningful employment for adults with developmental disabilities in North County. He has served as Executive Director since 2008 and has worked for Valley Industries since 1985. He is very active in the community with a number of organizations including the Rotary Club of Florissant, Northwest Chamber of Commerce, The Greater North County Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. Scott Spurgeon is the Superintendent of the Riverview Gardens School District. He has been in the position since July of 2013. Prior to joining Riverview as Superintendent Dr. Spurgeon amassed 18 years of administrative experience with several local districts. These districts include Belleville, Rockwood and the Northwest R-1 district. He has taken a very active role in the community since assuming the Superintendency.

Don Zykan has served as Chief Operating Officer for Meridian Waste since May of 2013. Prior to joining Meridian Don was owner/operator of Zykan Brothers Hauling before selling the business in 1986. He has since continued to have a major presence both civically and in the business community here in North County. He is involved with several local organizations, serving on the Board of Directors for both Christian Hospital and the Greater North County Chamber of Commerce.
