The City of Ferguson's Northern Lights annual holiday celebration and parade will take place on Sunday, November 29 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and will commence at Victorian Plaza located at 20 S. Florissant Rd. in downtown Ferguson. The year’s theme is “Home for the Holidays”. Included in the celebration is a holiday market, lighted holiday parade, tree-lighting ceremony, food, free cookies and hot chocolate, activities for the kids, an appearance by Santa, and much more. The City of Ferguson’s 2015 Twilight Christmas House Tour is scheduled for December 6th from 3-7pm. 100% of the tour proceeds are donated to the Ferguson Caring League. Tickets are $12.00 in advance or $15.00 on tour day. Tickets can be purchased at City Hall, Corner Coffee Shop or Paul's Market. The City of Florissant will be holding a Christmas House Decorating Contest. Applications are FREE to Florissant Residents and are available at the James J. Eagan Center, JFK Community Center and Florissant City Hall. Parks and Recreation prizes are awarded to the best decorated homes. Deadline to apply is Friday December 14th at 5pm. Judging will begin at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, December 17th.
The City of Florissant will host a Visit With Santa at Sunset Park Nature Lodge on Saturday, December 19 from 9:00-10:30am. You may obtain tickets by showing your resident card and paying $1 or donating 1 canned food item per ticket. Only Florissant Residents may purchase tickets. A limited number of tickets will be available. Tickets will be available at the JFK or JJE centers beginning Monday November 16th. Light refreshments will be provided. The City of Florissant Parks and Recreation Department Ice Skating Rink will be open extra hours during the holiday season. The Rink will be open between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on the following dates: December 21, 22, 23, 28, 29, 30; January 18; February 15. MORE INFO

The City of Florissant will be holding a Snowman Building Contest. From November 1st to February 14th, anytime it snows build a snowman. North County Incorporated (NCI) is pleased to announce Rebecca Zoll, President/CEO of NCI was recognized by the Maryland Heights Chamber of Commerce at their 2015 Business Leader of the Year & Best of Maryland Heights Awards Ceremony. Zoll was awarded the Public Service Award for the leadership she and NCI provided during this past year and a half following the civil unrest. NCI’s work to bring regional partners together to help the area’s small businesses and school districts during and after the crisis was one of the reasons Zoll was honored. PRESS RELEASE
The Challenger Learning Center has received a grant from The Boeing Company for its new “Challenger Academy” program. The program, which will serve 25 middle school educators, will include a series of four professional development workshops during the 2015-16 school year, educator resources, and a volunteer component for Boeing engineers to engage with students. The City of Bellefontaine Neighbors Police Department was honored to have received the East-West Gateway Outstanding Local Government Achievement Award For their 2015 Youth Summer Camp. The Ferguson-Florissant School District is the recipient of a $91,500 Farm to School grant from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The grant, which is to cover the next two years, is a portion of $4.8 million awarded by the USDA to 74 school districts in 39 states. The Ferguson-Florissant School District is one of only two districts in the state of Missouri to receive funding. PRESS RELEASE
Pattonville School District continues to rank among the top performing public school districts in the St. Louis region when comparing results on the state's annual performance report (APR). Pattonville earned a score of 96.8 percent out of 100 on the 2015 APR recently released by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). Pattonville School District's Pattonville High School freshman Aliza Ahmed is one of five winners of the St. Louis Convention and Visitors Commission's 2015 Ultimate St. Louis Tourist essay competition.In order to win the prize and be crowned the Ultimate St. Louis Tourist, the winners visited at least three St. Louis area attractions and then wrote an essay about their journey in 500 words or less. Ahmed wrote her essay after participating in an eighth-grade St. Louis experience unit last year at Pattonville Heights Middle School. READ HER ESSAY

Pattonville School District's Pattonville High School teacher, Jeremiah Simmons, was named the Outstanding PLTW Computer Science Teacher for the state of Missouri by the Missouri Project Lead the Way (PLTW) program. PLTW is a national nonprofit organization that is considered a leading provider of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) programs for students in kindergarten through 12th grades in the U.S. PRESS RELEASE
Ritenour School District congratulates 13 student-athletes from Ritenour High School who earned 2015 All-Conference honors this fall. Honors recipients are Football: Kasey Jones, offensive line; Rickey McCoy, wide receiver and defensive back; Tre Hollins-White (Athlete of the Year for first team and quarterback on second team); Rashad Hughes, defensive line; Marqueese Banks, offensive line; LeTwon Jackson, running back; Dontrell Walker, defensive line; Ayodele Adeoye, lineback. Ritenour School District Middle School Math Teacher, Mandy Harvell, has been selected for the 2015 Emerson Award for Excellence in Teaching. The Emerson Award recognizes St. Louis-area teachers for their vital role in shaping their students’ lives. Christian Hospital Emergency Medical Services paramedics delivered non-perishable food items donated by BJC HealthCare directors and senior leadership throughout the metro-St. Louis area in November. The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis exists to empower African Americans and others throughout the region in securing economic self-reliance, social equality and civil rights.  
The City of Ferguson has named De'Carlon Seewood as its new City Manager. From 2007 to 2009 Seewood worked as the city manager for Berkley, Mo. While there, he reduced a $2 million dollar deficit in the General Fund, turning it into a $2.5million dollar surplus in 2 years. He also worked on the development of Berkley's North Park area, which has brought tremendous development to North County. PRESS RELEASE
Emerson, the multinational corporation located just a few miles from UMSL campus, has contributed nearly $6 million to University of Missouri–St. Louis programs, buildings and scholarships over the years. Recognizing this generosity, UMSL awarded its E. Desmond and Mary Ann Lee Medal for Philanthropy to Emerson at the 2015 Founders Dinner in September. PRESS RELEASE

St. Louis Crisis Nursery is offering Holiday and Christmas Cards and 2016 Calendars. The proceeds will raise money for the Crisis Nursery Family Emergency Fund, which assists families with keeping on their heat, lights and water during the cold winter season. St. Louis Crisis Nursery is looking for some Holiday Angels to spread Holiday cheer! Volunteer opportunities range from 2-8 hours, from December 7-22. They have Holiday Hearts programs in St. Louis, North County, St. Charles and Wentzville and need helpers in each post. UMSL has broken ground for their new College of Administration building, Anheuser-Busch Hall. Anheuser-Busch Hall, named in honor of a lead $2.5-million gift from Anheuser-Busch Foundation, will streamline all the current business school operations, offering students and faculty a centralized place to collaborate, interact and share ideas within their specific disciplines. It will feature cutting-edge classrooms, modern computer laboratories, faculty offices, seminar and conference rooms, and undergraduate and graduate advising areas.
